You have great flexibility with content, you can utilize it to create promotions or general information pages.
The more content you have on your online store, the more the search engines eat it up. They have more pages to index, people tend to link to good written helpful content which also adds juice to your search engine rankings. The old (internet old) saying is "Content Is King" and we @ QuillDesign believe this wholeheartedly.
Examples of content that you can use on your site:
Product Reviews - Have customers write up product reviews for you, edit them and put them online. Have your staff write up product reviews, be honest and if a product has a shortcoming, by all means, put it in the review, let people know what they are getting and what to expect.
Buying Guides - If your product makes sense to do this create buying guides. Group products together and write content to match and why they would want this or that, give the customers information on the high priced do it right items or the cheaper items that can get them by on a budget. Customers sometimes need help and this kind of content is invaluable.
Top Products - Create some content around your top selling products then associate those products to that content page.
Tutorials - Write up tutorials on how to use a product, this can be a HUGE search engine success. If you write good step by step details on how to do something, chances are you will get some good links from other websites.
There are others, just try to write up as much content for your site and make it helpful.
